Here are Lloyd Alvarez's DJ dates: Coming Up: Past Dates: Ahh, the new year. Had a great time on New Year's Day (actually slept in on NYE). Spun a few records at Casa de Stadenco's afterhours and then went to Sasha's afterhours at Lot61 which was my kind of afterhours. Sasha playing Outkast's "Hey Ya" on the 1-2-3 loop for about half an hour!! Pure madness I assure you.... anyway, Standenco and I are kicking off 2004 with our Open Air party after taking December off. New Year, fresh start! Look out for a wicked Filter14 party at the end of January!! |

Ibiza rocked!!! Met some of the most amazing people this year and the gigs where off the hook! After playing in the main room with Satoshi, I played the funky room which went off properly!! I got asked back to play 2 more times before the trip was over. Check out the pics below.. Well the Winter Music Conference has come to an end once again, and we are happy to report that all our parties were a huge success... We have pictures up already and the audio is coming soon, so check back. I would like to thank all of the people that helped make it happen, and all I gotta say is Decks Benedict II is already in the making... The pictures hardly describe how much fun that party was and how perfect it was, those who were there know what I am talking about, so see you next year for sure! We also uploaded Lloyd's WMC Promo: Liquor starts at 8* so enjoy it. Clive Henry from Peace Division said it's the best CD he's heard all year so you make your own conclusions... thank you Clive! |

Music Conference is right around the corner and the Velvet
Couch has a great party lined up once again... This year's party is
in association with Drop Music (UK), Airtight
Recordings (UK), Habitat Records (Chicago), and Tango Recordings (San
Diego) will be Sat March 23rd Lloyd will also be spinning at the Pacha/DefMix party at Level in the VIP Room, check the party listings for details... And lastly, but most importantly, Lloyd and Chris Graham are having a birthday blowout after the party at Blue at Studio on 1200 Ocean Drive called Decks Benedict. Check out the flyer above. Lloyd is coming back for his monthly residency on Saturday, October 27th for the annual Velvet Couch Halloween Bash! Some put on your best costumes and come out of your holes! |

DJ Lloyd Alvarez's going away party was one of the best parties we have ever seen at Blue, thanks to everybody for all the good wishes and great energy!! Check out the photos below (pay attention to how all sanity degraded as the night went on). Juan Mejia took over as the Velvet Couch resident and he has been keeping it going strong with great guests such as Shawn Rudnick and Russell Vargas from Release SF. Lloyd Alvarez will be flying back from NYC once a month starting Saturday, Sept 29!! So come out and say hello. |

As some may have already heard, DJ Lloyd Alvarez is making the big move up to New York City on August 1st. What this means is two-fold. Firstly, there will be a huge going-away blow-out party at Blue on Saturday, July 21st. This party will also celebrate the birthdays of bartenders Mike D and Rodrigo. So come out and bring presents!! Secondly, this means that Lloyd will no longer be the weekly resident, since he will be living in NY. The new resident will be Juan Mejia. Juan is no stranger to the Velvet Couch, so he will fit right in. Lloyd will maintain a monthly residency, flying down once a month. So we hope to see you all there for Lloyd's last night on the 21st! |

In May we had Juan Mejia in the house again, and Lloyd Alvarez guest DJ'ed with Juan at his Thursday Homegrown Party in the VIP Lounge of Crobar on the 24th. On May 8th, Lloyd Alvarez DJ'ed a party for Kahlua in the Bahamas and over the Memorial Day weekend he traveled to Chicago to DJ at Lava Lounge with Olivier Desmet and DJ Motion on Saturday, May 26 and at Red Dog with DJ's Lego and Mark Grant on Monday May 28, see all the pictures below. Finally we have a new mixed CD from Lloyd Alvarez for your listening pleasure. This mix is harder than what you've heard from Lloyd Alvarez before, but it is a sample of what he'll be playing this summer in Ibiza. |

March was not only the month of the infamous Winter Music Conference here in south beach, but it also happened to be the month of St. Patrick's day and Lloyd Alvarez' & Scotty's (The owner of Blue) birthdays! Pheeew!!! We started it all off Saturday, March 10th with Scotty's strugglin' pimps & $2 ho's birthday bash, click here to see the invite, and see the photos below. Saturday, March 17th was DJ Lloyd Alvarez's birthday bash and, well, all we can say is that if it had not been for the photos, we would not remember any of it! Russell Vargas was in town from San Fran, and spun an awesome set, Juan Mejia stopped in and dropped a mean record or two, Nova tore it up, and as if that was not enough, Sharkey polished off his house records and closed off the night. We then went on to the Diner for some more shennanigans, and well the photos speak for themselves, check them out below. On Thursday March 23rd, Juan Mejia invited Lloyd Alvarez to spin at a pre-WMC extravaganza in the VIP room of Crobar and it was an incredible night, Dave Seaman hung out in the booth and well, check out the photos, it was mad!!!! Then on Saturday March 25, the Velvet Couch kicked off the Winter Music Conference with the return of the official Gourmet and Simple Soul Recordings Label party with Mazi, Ron Carroll, Nathan Larsen, Chris Udoh, Alexander East, Olivier Desmet, and Lloyd Alvarez. It was crazy so we were only able to get a few photos, and we lost the tape on which we had recorded the whole night (fuck!!!!), but oh well, it will have to remain in our memories. Finally on March 31st, Russell Vargas came back for one last set before he returned to San Francisco, we recorded the set and we are sending it to Russell for him to post it on livedjs.com |

On Saturday, Feb 24th, the Velvet Couch was graced by not one, but two of the best house DJ's in the country. Jask and Chang came into town to celebrate a friend's birthday and threw down tag-team style with Lloyd Alvarez. The photos are up (see below), and the audio is coming soon. On Friday Feb 23rd, Nova and Lloyd Alvarez tag-team covered for Marc Vane on his Bamboo night, while he tours the UK and Germany. He'll be back on March 16, in the meantime Lloyd Alvarez and special guests will be covering the night.
